From the Parisian ateliers – to blue as a French signature

Blue carries a certain architectural weight – a colour that frames a space with precision and serenity. In French interiors, especially Parisian ones, blue has long held a natural place. Deep, elegant tones bring structure and refinement, while lighter shades open up a room and capture the light in a way that feels both timeless and contemporary.

Blue is also deeply connected to French art history. The artist Yves Klein developed his iconic ultramarine hue – International Klein Blue – in Paris in the 1950s. His intense shade of blue became an expression of infinity, calm, and spirituality, and lives on as a symbol of modern aesthetics and deep focus.

Decorating with blue

Lighter shades like Chalk Blue and Washed Denim are ideal for rooms where you want to create an open and airy impression. They reflect light beautifully and highlight wood veneers such as Biscotti Wood. Darker tones like Salty Blue and Atlantic add depth and character, working especially well with warmer wood types like Honey Wood. Together, they create a harmonious balance between cool and warm – a composition that feels both calm and grounded.
