Jane wanted to create a yellow kitchen that feels warm, soft and natural within the home, a kitchen to live in every day. With plain fronts in a custom NCS colour from Superfront, the result became a personal kitchen where the colour brings character to the space without taking over. You chose the Plain design in a custom NCS colour. How did you arrive at your choices, and what feeling did you want to create in the kitchen?
I knew early on that I wanted to create something that would stand the test of time. The sleek fronts felt like the natural choice in their simplicity, allowing the rest of the room to breathe.
I chose the colour quite intuitively. I wanted to create a yellow kitchen that feels warm, soft and natural to live with every day. I was drawn to a tone that feels calm and understated, yet still gives presence to the room.
It was also important to me that the kitchen didn’t feel newly renovated, but rather as though it had always belonged naturally within the home. A kitchen where people cook, gather and where everyday mess can simply be part of life.
What inspires you in everyday life when it comes to colour, form and interiors?
I’m deeply inspired by things that have already lived a life. Older people, a vintage floral armchair or slightly worn dressers carrying traces of time.
At the same time, I’ve gone through quite a significant shift in my personal style. I perhaps used to look more outwardly, but over time I started listening more to myself. Once I began following instinct and feeling, decorating became much easier.
I’m drawn to spaces that feel warm and lived in, where everyday life leaves its mark. That’s the feeling I want to create at home, something that doesn’t feel staged, but simply is.
It feels like a more conscious way to renovate, while creating something that truly reflects how I want to live.
How do you experience the kitchen in everyday life? Do the fronts feel practical and durable?
The fronts feel genuinely practical and durable, and it was important to me that the kitchen wasn’t just beautiful, but also functional for everyday life with children, cooking and everything that comes with it. It makes a huge difference not having to constantly worry about the kitchen, but instead being able to truly live in it.
Are you happy with the design support and guidance from our kitchen designers throughout the process?
I truly felt supported by Superfront’s kitchen designers throughout the entire process. There was a great balance between guidance and still allowing me to maintain my own sense of direction in the decisions.
It made the process feel more reassuring, especially when I was standing alone in the middle of all the choices. It also felt very easy to discuss questions and decisions continuously throughout the project.
What made you choose Superfront for your kitchen?
I think it was the combination of sustainability and aesthetics that made me choose Superfront for my kitchen. I like the idea of not replacing a perfectly functional kitchen, but instead building on what already exists.
It feels like a more conscious way to renovate, while creating something that truly reflects how I want to live.
