Metod or Faktum? Which cabinet frame do I have?

Do you have an Ikea kitchen without knowing which cabinet frame it is built on? Or are you unsure if your kitchen is from Ikea at all? Perhaps the kitchen was there already when you moved in? To help you find out if you have a Metod kitchen or a Faktum kitchen, we have compiled a list of details that characterize the two Ikea kitchen series. Measure your kitchen carefully and compare!

1. The plinth
The height of the plinth is the most obvious difference between Metod and Faktum. So if you know for sure that the kitchen is from Ikea, it's enough to take this measure. But if you feel the slightest doubt, it is important that you go through the entire list.

METOD
The height of the plinth is 80 mm.

FAKTUM
The height of the plinth is 160 mm.

2. The height of the frame
The heights of the cabinet frames also differ clearly between the two kitchen series. The heights for Metod always reach even hundreds (mm), while Faktum has more irregular dimensions.

METOD
The heights of the frames are 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1400, 2000 and 2200 mm.

FAKTUM
The heights of the frames are 348, 572, 700, 924, 1248, 1948 and 2172 mm.

3. The width of the frame
A less visible difference is the widths of these two cabinet frames, where the Metod frame always reach even hundreds while the Faktum frames are always 2 mm below the nearest hundred.

METOD
The widths of the frames are 200, 300, 400, 600 and 800 mm.

FAKTUM
The widths of the frames are 198, 298, 398, 498, 598 and 798 mm.

4. The holes in the frame
Open a cabinet and look at the holes on the inside of the frame. Along the front edge, the Metod frame has two rows of holes, while the Faktum frame only has one row. Measure the distance from the front edge to the first holes and compare with the measurements below.

METOD
The distance from the front edge to the holes is 17 mm.

FAKTUM
The distance from the front edge to the holes is 25 mm.

5. The drawers
One last detail to look at is the drawers. They differ both in terms of the number of drawers you can have in a cabinet frame and in colour.

METOD
A cabinet frame can have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 drawers. The sides of the drawers are white.

FAKTUM
A base cabinet frame can have 1, 2, 3 or 5 drawers. The sides of the drawers are grey/silver-coloured.

NOTE!
If your kitchen matches all the details on the list for either Metod or Faktum, the probability is very high that it is built on that particular Ikea frame. However, we cannot guarantee this. On the other hand, we dare to say that if any detail differs, you probably do not have an Ikea kitchen which unfortunately means that our fronts will not fit.
