A Softly Layered Parisian Home

In the heart of Paris, interior designer Christophe Pastoureau (CHRIS by DESIGN) has created a calm, refined apartment where layered textures and natural materials shape an elegant, balanced atmosphere. Working with both private clients and professionals, Christophe designs interiors that feel timeless, thoughtful and deeply considered.

Designed as a serene yet inviting space, this Parisian home brings together soft tones, natural materials and carefully chosen details — proving that neutral palettes can still feel rich, layered and full of character.

Layering materials and textures adds depth without overwhelming a space.

What inspires you in your work as an interior designer?
I get inspired by pretty much everything around me — a photo in a magazine, colours on a wall in the street, the atmosphere of a café, or browsing new pieces from my favourite furniture brands. I truly believe inspiration is everywhere. You just have to stay curious and open-minded. Every small detail of everyday life can be translated into interior design if you look at it with the right eye.

What matters most to you when creating a space — both aesthetically and functionally?
Before even thinking about colours or fabrics, I always begin with the layout. Can you move easily through the space? Can doors and drawers open comfortably? Can the living room adapt to different lifestyles — whether it’s for two people or hosting six or eight guests?

Once the space works functionally, I focus on the atmosphere. I love mixing colours, materials and textures to create depth and character. Details are essential — they’re what bring a project to life and make it feel unique rather than generic.

When designing this Paris apartment, what was your vision?
My client wanted a tone-on-tone Parisian interior — elegant and timeless, yet never boring. To create depth without bold colours, I focused on textures and natural materials like marble, travertine, bouclette, walnut wood and velvet. The Honey Wood kitchen fronts add warmth and character, echoed in the dining table, while subtle green accents bring freshness to the space.

How do you create a warm and inviting atmosphere in a home?
Details make all the difference. Layering materials and textures adds depth without overwhelming a space. I also believe in restraint — a few carefully chosen pieces create more impact than many average ones. It’s often the smallest elements — a cushion, a pouf, a beautifully crafted object — that make a space feel personal. When a home feels considered and balanced, warmth comes naturally.

Warm, natural and full of character.

Why did you choose Superfront for this project?
For this project, I was looking for something slightly different — something that felt both distinctive and timeless. My client and I had already seen several Superfront kitchens, which gave us confidence in the choice from the very beginning.

The Honey Wood fronts were simply perfect. Not too dark, not too light, but warm, natural and full of character. It captured exactly the atmosphere we wanted to create in this Parisian apartment.
