Blue kitchens – inspiration and tips

A blue kitchen gives a timeless and harmonious impression. Blue is many people’s favourite colour, perhaps because it has so many positive associations such as the sky, the sea or the eyes of a loved one. Like green kitchens, blue kitchens bring nature into the home and create a sense of calm and relaxation.

Reasons to choose a blue kitchen

A blue kitchen is an excellent choice if you want a harmonious kitchen with long-term appeal. The colour blue is highly versatile and comes in a wide range of shades, from bold and distinctive to more neutral tones, so you can find the right shade of blue for your home. Whether you fall for a darker or lighter shade, blue is a great colour to give your kitchen a sense of calm and tranquility.

Dark blue kitchens

Dark kitchens make a strong impression and exude a sense of confident elegance. In comparison to light-coloured kitchens, dark kitchens are often more eye-catching and thus make an immediate impact when you enter the room. Dark blue adds depth and gives your kitchen a sophisticated and exclusive atmosphere.

Dark blue kitchens in large spaces with plenty of light

Dark colours can make a room feel smaller because they absorb light instead of reflecting it. In a large, bright room, this can have a positive effect and create a more dynamic atmosphere. For example, dark blue works well in a slightly larger kitchen with plenty of light, as the dark colour absorbs some of the light and creates a nice balance that is pleasing to both eyes and mind.

Dark blue kitchens in smaller spaces

Of course, dark blue also works well in smaller spaces. However, it can make the room feel smaller. To make a dark blue kitchen seem brighter and more spacious, you can combine dark-coloured base cabinets with lighter-coloured wall cabinets or shelves, creating a more airy and open feel. For example, dark blue combined with lighter shades of blue and grey, white or natural wood work well in a smaller kitchen.

Things to consider when designing your blue kitchen

There are a few things to bear in mind when designing a blue kitchen. Firstly, it’s important to choose the right shade of blue. There are many shades of blue to choose from – everything from our dark and exclusive Infinity Blue to light pastel tones. Choose the colour that best suits your home and personal style.

Besides the colour, you can also choose different materials and textures to create a unique feel. For example, you can create a contrast between the base and wall cabinets by selecting doors in different shades of blue, or opting for a completely different colour or pattern to create a more vibrant look.

Other choices of material also affect the feel of the room. If you want to add warmth and also give your kitchen an exclusive feel, you can add details in leather, brass or copper, for example. Similarly, light-coloured wood and chrome give a sense of cool, Scandinavian elegance.

Blue kitchens from Superfront

Our Infinity Blue is a midnight blue, a sober colour that never goes out of style. The shade is reminiscent of endless, starry nights, and brings a sense of calm and harmony to your kitchen. Thunder Wood is a stained wood veneer in a grey colour with clear hints of blue. The stain allows the beautiful wood texture to shine through and brings a vibrant feel to your kitchen. Before ordering your kitchen, you can order both wood and colour samples to get a better idea of the colour before making a purchase. By comparing colour samples at home, you can get a good idea of how they look and are affected by the light. In addition to the colours in our own palette, you can also choose a custom colour to get the exact blue shade you want for your cabinet doors.
