A Scandinavian Dream – in the Heart of the Archipelago
Imagine waking up with pine trees outside your window and a kitchen that blends into the colours of nature.
That’s exactly what it looks like at Emma’s summer house in the Swedish archipelago.
When designing her home, she wanted to create a sense of Scandinavian harmony, using materials and colours that reflect calm and a close connection to nature. The result is a wooden kitchen from Superfront – where every detail contributes to a thoughtful and authentic whole.
Read more about her process, what inspired her – and how the dream came to life.
I immediately fell for the wooden fronts and the ribbed Vertical pattern – it just felt right.
What did you buy – and what drew you to the design?
I bought kitchen fronts in Biscotti Wood. I was drawn to the wooden look and the colour. At first, I looked at Umber Wood, but I wanted a lighter tone and chose Biscotti. I used the Design Help service and really liked their suggestion to mix Plain and Vertical fronts.
How was your experience with Superfront?
Smooth and hassle-free.
How did the installation go?
A carpenter installed the kitchen and it went without a hitch. I also had a leftover METOD frame, so I built a storage unit with the same fronts. I was surprised at how easy it was once I got started.

How does the kitchen feel now, and how do you find the quality?
The quality has been surprisingly good! No visible wear, even after a few years. We don’t live here full-time, but the kitchen has held up really well and still feels durable.
How do the fronts work practically?
The best thing about Biscotti Wood is that dirt doesn’t show. In our city apartment, we have glossy fronts – every fingerprint is visible. Here, you can barely see anything, even with the kids touching them. I’ve hardly had to wipe them.
Next time I design a kitchen, I definitely want a grooved pattern again – it’s so practical. In the city, we have a stainless steel fridge and freezer that quickly got covered in marks. Here, they’re integrated, and it looks fresh all the time.

When I saw your wooden fronts in a magazine
I thought: Wow, that’s exactly what I want!
Do you have any tips for others planning a renovation?
Use the Design Help! I brought an Ikea drawing and got great advice from there. I already knew I wanted the ribbed wooden fronts, and the kitchen designer suggested combining them with smooth ones. She made a sketch, everything looked great – so we went for it.
What inspired you when decorating?
I wanted to create harmony, and let the feeling of nature come through the windows and the materials. That idea runs throughout the house. I instantly fell for the wooden fronts and the ribbed VERTICAL pattern – they match the pine trees outside perfectly.
How did you discover Superfront, and why did you choose us?
I think I saw you in an interior magazine when the wood series was launched.
I remember thinking: That’s so beautiful – if I ever redo the kitchen, I want exactly that. And a year later, we did.
